Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
One of Patricia Schultz’ 1,000 Places to See Before You Die, Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a 20 minute train ride and 15 minute walk from downtown Copenhagen. As well as its permanent display it has temporary exhibitions such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. But it’s the museum itself that's the biggest work of art, and on a sunny day the view across the sound to Sweden is itself worth a visit to the café and restaurant. It’s not named after the American state – the founder’s three wives were all called Louise.

Louisiana is definitely worth the trip
Impressive museum of modern art in a beautiful setting. Nice permanent collection and great special exhibitions. The café is cosy in winter and amazing in summer, where you sit in the garden admiring the view over the sound. Interesting events and a cool souvenir shop. Definitely worth the 40 minutes or so trip out of Copenhagen ...
